Sulphur dioxide, also known as preservative 220, is a commonly used preservative in the food industry. It helps preserve the color and freshness of dried fruits and other food products. Its primary role is to prevent spoilage and maintain the quality of the food.
Dried fruits, like fresh fruits, undergo a natural aging process that can cause them to darken. This darkening is influenced by several factors, including temperature, humidity, and storage conditions. As dried fruit ages, its color may change due to chemical reactions and exposure to environmental elements.
Both raw and roasted nuts are healthy and provide valuable nutrients. Nuts contain beneficial fats, protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
Cooking grade nuts are typically less expensive than regular nuts, usually 10–20% cheaper. They differ from normal (or premium) nuts in several ways:
The healthy fats in nuts help to improve your cholesterol profile by reducing levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol and increasing HDL (good) cholesterol. Incorporating nuts into your diet can contribute to better overall heart health and lower the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Nuts and fruits are harvested once a year, and they are generally fresher at the start of the season. As the season progresses, the produce may lose some flavor and color. Therefore, early-season products tend to have optimal freshness and quality.
To maintain the freshness, crispness, and flavor of your nuts and seeds, store them in an airtight container. For optimal preservation, keep them in the refrigerator or freezer.

Certified Organic products are grown and processed without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. They are also free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Organic farming practices focus on enhancing the ecological balance of natural systems, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting biodiversity.
The key difference is that organic products are specifically grown without synthetic chemicals and follow regulated farming practices, while natural products are distinguished by the absence of artificial additives and minimal processing. Organic products can also be natural, but natural products are not necessarily organic if they do not adhere to organic farming standards.
